This first slideshow below is mostly flatland pics. I added some pics of me in there towards the end, just to prove that I brought a bike with me. Thanks to Tony Donaldson and Jorge Luzuriaga for those shots! There was some great riding from everyone. James McGraw and Todd Carter were tearing it up, but Eric Stefano, Jorge Luzuriaga, Gabe Weed, Dave Nourie, Rick Allison, Martin Aparijo, Yellow, and more were rippin' too. I wish I had gotten pics of everyone, but I didn't...(If you're reading on an iPhone/iPad, here's the link to the photos as the slideshow uses Flash) Read More>>>
I didn't take as many pics as I normally do, and because of that, I missed many people, and much of the action...
In many ways, the weekend really flew by, and in some ways, it was a long weekend. Of course, one the best aspects to this event is meeting up with friends, both old and new. I met some new friends, and I got to see some of my California friends (Mike Drolet, Tony Donaldson, Brian Martin, etc...) whom I only get to see when I head out West. I also was looking forward to hanging out with my good buddy Keith. He and I have been riding together since the mid-80's, but he and I have moved all over the US, and as often happens when we become adults, you don't get to see some of your friends as often as you'd like.
The plan was that we'd meet up in LA, get a rental car, and head up to OSBMXR for a weekend of riding and reminiscing.
Unfortunately, I cursed him. As an emergency medicine provider, I told him that I didn't want to "work" this weekend. That set the jinx machine in to overdrive and resulted in Keith taking a pretty nasty crash on Saturday afternoon.
The short story is that he sustained a complex fracture and dislocation of the elbow. We had to get him to the local hospital, and from there he was transferred to a bigger hospital in Bakersfield. Unfortunately, they couldn't fix it entirely, so he had to make it home to be seen by a specialist. Can you say "suckage?"
We did get to hang out and have some fun, but that certainly put a damper on things.
Anyway, he's home and in good hands now... his wife is a nurse for an orthopedic surgeon. I hope he's got a smooth recovery.
While it will be a few months before he's shredding again, I do have some pics. Keith is the guy in the red shirt, and there are some other random pics in here as well. (If you're reading on an iPhone/iPad, here's the link to the photos as the slideshow uses Flash)
I've got some video that I still need to go through, so look for that soon.
In the meantime, I've got plenty of people to thank...
Thanks to Mike Drolet for taking on all of the logistics for registration and other stuff! Great to see you buddy!

Thanks to Vans for the free shoes!
Thanks to Steve Swope for putting this all together!
Thanks to all of the riders who came from all over the country, and other countries, to make this a great event!
