Travel Trailer Maiden Voyage

In December, Jean and I bought a travel trailer with hopes and dreams of using it nearly every weekend for the summer... Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Western Massachusetts and points beyond were all on our radar. Well, life has thrown us a curveball, so our summer is going to be a bit chaotic.

That being said, we were able to get out for our first trip... a semi-local jaunt up to North Conway, NH for some mountain biking, hiking and visit with the family.

The new (to us) tow vehicle worked out great (2013 GMC Yukon SLT), and the trailer is pretty awesome (2015 Starcraft AR ONE MAXX 21FB).

Our destination was the Glen Ellis Campground which was a great location with plenty of amenities. From that starting point, we went riding on Great Glen's mountain biking trails, hiking at Hedgehog Mountain, and enjoyed some good coffee.

Without further adieu, let's see some pics and get into some more details about the trip...

The trails at Great Glen are pretty fun. We like it because they're well marked and we can focus on the ride, and not on the constant "where are we, which trail do we take, is this trail on the map?"

I also got out on a good ride with my brother a bit earlier in the day...

Jean and I also did a great hike out on Hedgehog Mountain, just off the Kancamagus Highway.

Anyway, it was a short trip--only a long weekend--but it was a great little get away. We're looking forward to getting the trailer equipped with the things we need and want, so the process is more efficient and more fun. For our first trip, things went great though... it was super easy to make good food, and the fridge makes access to cold beer a snap.  Our trailer's amenities include a fridge, freezer, microwave, 3-burner stove, oven, bathroom, shower, full-size bed, love-seat (becomes a bed), dinette (becomes a bed), retractable awning, sound system (indoor and outdoor speakers), and more.

Yeah... the mileage suffers a bit when going up big hills...
And now, a slide show:

Anyway, more trips are on the way, thus more posts are coming. In fact, I'm writing THIS post from the dry comfort of our trailer in the Lazy Lions campground in Barre, Vermont, while a monsoon blows through the area. More to come!
