I'd have to say, by all accounts, the 2017 Muddy Onion gravel ride presented by
Onion River Sports was a success.
Perfect weather, great course, excellent support and an all-around great vibe for the nearly 600 riders.
Jean and I had done this ride last year and it really set the tone for gravel rides for the remainder of 2016, and since then, we've been looking forward to this year's event.

New for this year was a shorter, "Hibernator" loop of 20 miles in addition to the awesome 34 mile loop. Interestingly, at about mile ten I was thinking about taking the shorter loop, but I totally missed the turn off and didn't realize it until I hit the 13 mile rest stop. At that point, I couldn't imagine going back so I just kept moving forward. I'm glad I did because the route is killer.
Anyway, also similar to last year's ride, I carried lots of camera equipment... I had my DSLR, a backup camera, a GoPro and a backup video camera... #photonerd.
I've got a gallery of pics I took along the route (click here), and
video will be coming soon. Until this year's video is done, you can
take a look back at the 2016 ride...

Every good ride starts with a long port-o-let line... |

This is just to show everyone who was stressing about their lack of gravel tires or lack of disc brakes that they should just chill. |

For some reason, some riders really wanted me to examine their tongues... |

No handlebar tape and single speed? You ARE the devil. |

Another pic to highlight the fact that just about ANY bike will be fine on dirt roads... |
